Timber Frame – the Scott Panel Thermo

Timber Frame Panels are manufactured in different configurations depending on your needs.

The Scott Panel Thermo is a great solution for when finding the balance between maximising internal room dimensions while minimising thermal losses is essential.

It starts with a factory-assembled open stud panel (Scott Panel Basic), which is then enhanced in our factory with rigid-style insulation pre-fitted within the stud zone. This design allows for on-site installation of plumbing, wiring, and vapour control layers while maintaining excellent thermal efficiency. Scott Panel Thermo offers a U-Value range of 0.18 W/m²K to 0.1 W/m²K.

Once assembled and made weather-tight, the structure is ready for on-site insulation and service installation.

The Scott Panel Thermo offers exceptional thermal performance, allowing you to achieve a broad range of U-values from 0.18 W/m²K to 0.1 W/m²K, significantly surpassing current building regulation requirements.

Key

  1. External cladding (typically 102mm fair-faced brickwork) – By others.
  2. 50 mm nominal cavity formed with stainless steel wall ties at 450mm horizontal centres and 300 vertical centres (2.5 ties /m2). Cavity to provide ventilation and drainage with cavity trays above openings and weep holes at 450mm centres (min. two per opening) – By others.
  3. High performance breather membrane (Type 1 to BS4016 or equivalent), installed per manufacturer’s instructions with horizontal and vertical laps and dressed to ensure water is directed away from structure – By Scotts Timber Frame.
  4. 9mm OSB/3 structural sheathing board, fixed per structural engineer’s specification and BS EN 300 – By Scotts Timber Frame.
  5. 140mm timber frame external wall panel pre-fabricated from preservative-treated structural timber studs at max. 600mm centres – By Scotts Timber Frame.
  6. Factory fitted high-performance rigid insulation (e.g PIR) as per required U-Value W/M2K- By Scotts Timber Frame.
  7. 500G (125um) vapour control layer (VCL) with sealed joints and 100mm overlaps, installed on the warm side of the insulation, per BS 5250:2021 – By others.
  8. 25mm minimum internal service void formed with battens at 600 centres, for routing of electrical and plumbing services, ensuring VCL remains uninterrupted – By others.
  9. 5mm (minimum) plasterboard, 2 layers (2×12.5mm) where 1 hour fire resistance is required, installed per BS EN 520 and fire strategy – By others
  10. 2000g (500mu) DPC below soleplate, continuous with DPM/radon barrier where applicable – By others
  11. & 12. Foundation Detailing – By Others
