Boom Construction

Scotts Designer Loden Townsend worked with new customer Boom Construction on their 13 house development at Strangers Way in Luton.

The original contractor on the site went into administration, leaving the development unfinished and abandoned for a few months. Boom Construction then took over and had to replace a number of posi-joists across several plots, as they’d been left exposed to the weather. New roofs were also needed – a mix of standard trusses and cap trusses for ‘room-in-the-roof’ designs – all of which I supplied.

Taking over a site that’s been partially completed by another builder presents far more challenges than starting fresh on a new development – both for the developer and for suppliers like Scotts Timber Engineering. Loden explained: “Some of the plots already had posi-joists and trusses installed by a previous supplier, but because they weren’t covered in time, the timber was left exposed when the original contractor went under. That led to mould and distortion, so the new site team had to rip everything out before we could deliver and install the replacement materials. I worked closely with the architect and SE on the proposed designs to ensure a smooth installation for the site team.”
