Scotts Timber Engineering is currently manufacturing trusses for WW Martin’s development in Tomlin Drive, Margate, Kent.
Designer Macauley Morton, based at our Thrapston office, commented on the design aspects of this project:
“The original design for the twelve plot site specified hand cut timbers with steels, but we were asked to design out the steels which we did, with an all timber solution achieved.”
The construction of twelve new build houses including eight 3-bedroom semi-detached and four 4-bedroom terraced properties, and is one of four sites to be redeveloped as Phase 4 of Thanet District Council’s Affordable Homes programme, which will deliver 49 high-quality new homes to meet the housing needs of local families across four strategic locations in Thanet.
Unusually, the WW Martin Ltd construction business is older than Scotts – founded in 1877 it had already been established for 43 years when Scotts was first incorporated in 1920!
