Upgrading Truss Beds at across Scotts Factories

Preventative maintenance programmes are a vital part of running a productive factory and Production Manager Craig Bull keeps a close eye on the equipment at both our Thrapston and Redditch truss manufacturing plants.

By the nature of what we’re making at the factory, truss beds always take a bit of a hammering. When it was time to recondition a number of these beds, Craig also incorporated some upgrades to improve the speed at which our teams can operate.

New boards and channels were reinforced by Craig and his team with Mitek plates for additional strength. Staggering board configuration also improved operational capability.

The work was all done in-house, taking two and a half days per site. Craig explained the benefits the factories are already experiencing: “The new bed configurations are already speeding up the truss set-up process for the teams, providing knock-on benefits to quality.”
